Design that doesn’t slow you down.

We design and build Shopify storefronts, apps, and software for consumer brands. Every build has a performance budget, and we meet it without scaling back the design.

What we build

We make online stores, the apps that extend them, and the back-office tools that keep a brand running. Each one is designed, measured, and tested before it ships.

Themes

Shopify storefronts

We design a custom Shopify theme around your brand, built so your team can edit every section without calling a developer.

  • Main content appears in under 2.5 seconds
  • Buttons respond in under 200 milliseconds
  • Meets the WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standard
  • Works with the apps you keep, like reviews and subscriptions
  • A working concept on your own products before you commit
Audits

Store audits

We check speed, accessibility, search, and every installed app, with evidence behind each finding. You get a ranked list of fixes, whether or not you rebuild with us.

  • Field and lab speed data, on mobile and desktop
  • The speed cost and monthly fee of every installed app
  • WCAG 2.2 accessibility and technical SEO review
  • Which apps your theme could replace, and what that saves
Apps

Shopify apps and integrations

When an off-the-shelf app is too slow, costs too much, or doesn't fit how you work, we build one for you: a checkout extension, a tool in the Shopify admin, or a connection to your other systems.

  • Built on Shopify's supported extension points, so updates don't break it
  • Set up under your company's own account, so you own it
  • Adds no weight to pages that don't use it
  • Held to the same speed budget as your theme
Software

Back-office software

Our first product, in private development, does the bookkeeping for every Shopify payout. It splits each deposit into the sales, fees, and refunds inside it, flags anything that doesn't add up, and posts to QuickBooks only after someone approves it.

  • Checks Shopify for new payouts every morning
  • Never posts a payout that's already in your books
  • Attaches the payout's source file to each QuickBooks entry
  • Any posting can be undone, and every action is logged
  • Two-step sign-in for everyone on your team

How a project runs

You see a working store before you commit to building one.

  1. Audit

We benchmark your store's speed, accessibility, and search on the devices your customers use, then rank every issue by impact.

  2. Concept

We build a working concept on a private development store with your real products. You can click through it before you sign off on the build.

  3. Build

We keep the theme in version control, and every change has to pass the performance budget and an accessibility scan before it goes live.

  4. Launch

We set up redirects, check every app, and monitor the store once it's live. You get the code, the documentation, and full admin access.

  5. Your new store is live and faster than before.

The budgets we build to

Every design decision has to fit within these limits. The panel at the top of this page measures the same things, live, in your browser.

The first three are Google's thresholds for a good score, measured at the 75th percentile of real visits on phones and computers. The bars show this page's own figures, measured in your browser, as a share of each budget. The INP figure appears after your first tap or click.

How does your store measure up?

Run Google's PageSpeed Insights on your store. It checks the same measures as this table, and the report opens in a new tab.

PageSpeed Insights is a free tool from Google. The web address goes straight to Google; we don't see it.
